Utility Trailer History
For a more detailed account of Utility’s innovations over the last 90 years, be sure to check out our timeline.
When brothers E.W. and H.C. Bennett founded Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company in 1914, they had one simple goal: to build the highest quality trailers available.
In the 1920’s, our company was one of the first to use aluminum in trailer manufacturing. That spirit of innovation continued throughout our company’s history and still exists today.
By 1935, our success had enabled us to buy a steel foundry in Southgate, California, so we could maintain absolute quality control over some of the most essential parts of our trailers. Over the years, we’ve taken over all the important details of the manufacturing process. That’s why you can rely on us to build each Utility Trailer from the ground up.
Each decade has brought with it both challenges and opportunities for our company. Throughout the years, we’ve remained focused on the principles that have guided our company since two brothers began it more than ninety years ago. Each trailer, each part, each service we provide must meet Utility’s exacting standards for reliability and dependability. For Utility, these are not just buzzwords; they are our legacy…and our future.
