Austin-Westran is the finest provider of trailer supports to the domestic trailer industry. Used to support a freestanding trailer or position a trailer for hookup or release from a power unit, the Company’s trailer supports are fabricated from both round and square mechanical tubing that is cut to length, robotically welded, assembled, and painted.
As an efficient, experienced manufacturer and the only producer of cost-effective cylindrical trailer supports in the industry, Austin-Westran enjoys a strong market position and has earned a reputation for reliability, innovation, and cost effectiveness. Westran Corp. invented the trailer support in 1933 and pioneered innovations such as round trailer supports and the “cushion foot” base.
In 1991, the Company introduced the first major innovation in the trailer support industry in over 30 years with the introduction of the patented Constant Mesh trailer support gearing system. This innovation eliminates shifting problems inherent in conventional, two-speed gearboxes, allowing more positive, smoother gear shifting when raising or lowering the trailer support. Approximately 50% of Austin-Westran’s trailer supports are sold into the after market through OEM parts distribution programs, independent warehouse distributors, and marketing groups.
Austin-Westran has pioneered and/or patented several essential features of trailer landing gear including our Constant Mesh gearing, and we are the only manufacturers to offer both round and square product. Using high tensile steel, we offer the lightest weight product on the market, and have the fastest overall use speed: 3.2 turns per inch in high gear and 19.1 per inch in low gear. Our computer-aided design utilizes the latest finite element analysis technology, coupled with our five year warranty.
