Maintenance Technician | Clearfield, UT

Job Description:
Utility Trailer is seeking Maintenance Technicians to join our maintenance team at the Clearfield, Utah Facility. As part of the Maintenance team, you will be tasked to perform duties, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment accordingly to safety, and maintenance systems and processes in the facility.
Job Responsibility:
  • Ability to make sound repair decisions that follow established best practices of the department, regarding maintaining equipment functional operation and safety.
  • Provide emergency and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance of production equipment, forklifts, and gas/diesel engines.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to locate issues and problems, inspects parts to detect wear or other issues.
  • Troubleshoot and understands electrical circuits, schematics, and prints.
  • Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able to repair and overhaul facility equipment.
  • Able to read and write legibly; able to perform tasks without little or no supervision.
  • Ability to operate a drill press, power hand tools, measuring equipment and test equipment such as a voltmeter.
  • Basic computer skills and PLC Knowledge (Allen Bradley) knowledge is desired.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude. Tool and die, machining, welding, and fabricating experience beneficial.
  • Experience in electrical codes, installing or repair wiring, electrical and electrical components, and pipe systems.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical presses is desired.
Shifts:
Day Shift – Monday thru Friday, 6:30AM through 3:00PM.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma GED or graduation from trade/technical school preferred.
  • Additional school education may substitute for required experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Plant Manager must be a critical thinker who has extensive management-level experience in the heavy manufacturing industry. The Plant Manager will lead the plant management team in all aspects of operations including, but not limited to, Safety, Quality, Production, People, Process Improvement, and Cost Control. The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall performance and profitability of the Plant. The Plant Manager is responsible for mentoring/coaching the management team to ensure success and growth of the plant and staff. The Plant Manager will lead by example, taking and giving constructive criticism, demonstrating a strong work ethic, achieving performance excellence, and being collaborative and a team player. The plant manager will serve as role model to others and behave in a way that actively supports and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, being aware of and managing unconscious bias.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct and coordinate daily plant operations, ensuring that the plant has the necessary resources and people to accomplish Utility’s goals -- completing implementation and maximizing utilization of D365, embedding 5S within daily plant operations, problem solving, leadership development, profitability, performance/results, and customer focus.
  • Master knowledge and understanding of semi-trailers and trailer production.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Spend a minimum 40% of their time on the plant floor communicating to all levels of plant personnel.
  • Serve as the lead on any internship programs.
  • Ensure safety is a priority, working with Environmental Health & Safety, Production, and the work force to reduce accidents, lost work time, light duty and other safety issues and to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Work through the production management team to meet the corporate goals for basing, billing, units in process, efficiency and inventory turns.
  • Work with the quality team to ensure proper inspection is being done, including root cause analysis of issues and warranty claims.
  • Develop and recommend capital Improvement projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field such as Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or 15+ Years UTM Manufacturing Management experience required.
  • Master’s degree in Business preferred.
  • 5+ years in managing in a heavy production industry. (Tractor-trailer, semi-trailer, class 8 truck, buses, heavy farm equipment, etc.) required.
  • Demonstrated history of increasing responsibilities with excellent results required.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to plant operations required.
  • Strong leadership and written and oral communication skills required.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills required.
  • Demonstrated “hands on” and “can do” attitude in a production environment required.
  • Lean manufacturing background required; black belt preferred. Change management background required.
  • Ability to travel within the United States, Mexico, and Canada required.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of diverse groups of employees required.
  • Ability to motivate and work well with people required.
  • Proponent of standardization required.
  • Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting operational issues required.
  • Ability to build a relationship with customers/dealers during plant visits required.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and starting up an automation and robotics program is a plus.
  • Technical knowledge of Semi-Truck Trailer manufacturing and component assembly is a strong plus.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.

  • Must know and follow all departmental and company safety rules.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Dispose of work as required, performs other functions as assigned.
  • Interact with other team members and occasionally with maintenance and engineers, quality, customer service and others in the plant to discuss product issues if needed.
  • Able to use conventional measuring instruments and able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications regarding parts.
