Production Manufacturing Buyer | Enterprise, AL

Job Description:
Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. is looking for a buyer/purchasing agent for its flatbed semi-trailer manufacturing Plant in Enterprise, Alabama.  The buyer is responsible for ensuring consistent evaluation of Trailer Production Orders (TPO’s) and Bill Of Materials (BOM’s) to accurately purchase products needed for trailer production.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of high-quality material and services.
  • Oversee your daily workflow and product delivery.
  • Conduct evaluations of our MRP system (Material Requirements Planning) to ensure the suggested items needed are consistent with our alternate system.
  • Maintains a monthly and quarterly schedule.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and provide regular reports to management.
  • Responsible for placing orders in D365.
  • Responsible for tracking orders.
  • Responsible for going through TPO’s and BOM’s.
  • Responsible for maintaining responsible inventory levels.
  • Participate in weekly Teams calls for training and presenting.
  • Be a positive influence. Always look for better materials, improved quality or shorter lead times to improve the process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Must have strong computer skills, to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access).
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints and Bills of Materials.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a Team to meet plant goals and take responsibility for actions.
  • Must be acceptable to rotating job duties.
  • Must be able to negotiate and work well with vendors.
  • Must be well organized and have good follow-up skills.
  • Must have a history of good work attendance.

 

Job Type:  Full-time. Day Shift Monday – Friday 7:00 am through 3:30 pm

 

 

Experience
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years production experience in a fast-paced, heavy manufacturing environment required. Previous buying experience a strong plus.
  • Previous experience in a Continual Improvement Manufacturing environment a plus (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Technical knowledge of semi-truck trailer manufacturing and component fabrication/assembly a strong plus.

 

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Purchasing-related field preferred, or equivalent experience
