Job Description:
Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. is looking for a capable and motivated individual for the part-time position of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Intern. This individual will provide support in the areas of Environment, Health, Safety, Training, and Worker’s Compensation. Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Intern will assist the EHS Manager in occupational safety and environmental compliance at the facility.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide general administrative support to the EHS Manager for Plant safety-related programs, processes and procedures.
Update and maintain EHS-related records, files and bulletin boards. Input and maintain information into computer databases as required.
Assist with preparing and submitting reports and certifications related to EHS requirements, to include hazardous waste, stormwater, air permits and other environmental programs.
Maintain inventory of First Aid, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety-related supplies.
Issue supplies to employees as necessary and maintain database of PPE and safety supply usage.
Assist with coordinating, scheduling and communicating doctors appointments for employees related to workers compensation.
Assist with scheduling and communicating EHS-required training, testing and events, to include Hearing Testing, Safety Boot Truck visits, hazardous waste pick up, and annual surveillance testing for welders, painters and blast booth personnel.
Participate in EHS-related new hire orientation training.
Other EHS projects and tasks as determined by the EHS Manager.
Requirements:
1 to 3 years EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. OR actively pursuing a continuing education in an EHS and/or safety related field.
Effective interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
Must have strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.
Self-starter that takes the initiative and follows through on completion of tasks.
Must be able to work well with others.
Computer skills: proficiency in Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. is looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager for its flatbed semi-trailer manufacturing Plant in Enterprise, Alabama. The QA Manager is responsible for ensuring consistent conformance to product quality requirements by developing and implementing effective Quality Systems, Processes and Procedures. The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee all aspects of the quality assurance department and staff, by developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization’s products and/or development processes. The QA Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager, and serve as a staff member of the Plant Leadership Team.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hires and trains quality assurance staff.
Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Job Description:
Develops, implements, and manages processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.
Identifies and sets appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.
Communicates quality standards and parameters to QA team, product development team, and other appropriate staff.
Identifies and analyzes issues, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommends and facilitates solutions to these issues.
Coordinate with Corporate Quality and Engineering Departments as necessary to address quality-related issues. Prepares documents and reports as required.
Lead and manage small team problem solving events and activities to improve product conformance and scrap reduction.
Reviews product quality feedback from customer and sales
Maintains compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must have strong computer skills, to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access). Experience with Corrective Action Report (CAR) database systems a plus.
Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints and Bills of Materials.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to work independently and within a Team to meet plant goals and take responsibility for actions.
Must be able to motivate and work well with people.
Must be a proponent of standardization.
Must be able to travel within the United States and Mexico.
Must be well organized and have good follow-up skills.

Experience:
Five (5) to ten (10) years production experience in a fast-paced, heavy manufacturing environment required. Quality Engineering experience a strong plus.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Previous experience in a Continual Improvement Manufacturing environment a plus (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
Technical knowledge of semi-truck trailer manufacturing and component fabrication/assembly a strong plus.
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering-related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
