Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. Congratulates Customer H-E-B as it Celebrates its 100th Year as a Family Run Business

CITY OF INDUSTRY, California – January 3, 2006 – Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company – a leading, family owned manufacturer of dry freight vans, flatbeds, refrigerated vans, and Tautliner® curtainsided trailers – is pleased to congratulate H-E-B on its 100th Anniversary. (www.heb.com)

Well known as an innovative retailer, H-E-B was founded in 1905 in Kerrville, Texas with a sixty dollar investment and prayer. Today the company employs more than 56,000 people and operates more than 300 retail locations serving 150 communities in Texas and Mexico. Celebrating a 13 year relationship with Utility Trailer Sales Southeast Texas, Inc., the independent Utility dealership with four service locations, and Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, H-E-B recently added a new, state-of-the art $15 million maintenance facility in San Antonio, Texas, for the purpose of maintaining their truck and Utility Trailer fleet. The 108,000 square foot facility contains nine repair bays for maintenance on the company’s 2,147 trailers. Its 1,364 refrigeration units are serviced in five repair bays. Other areas of the facility include a tire shop and a parts department.

“H-E-B is a fine example of American entrepreneurship and the strong family ties that have not only enabled it to grow to become one of the largest privately held firms in the U.S. but also cares about the communities they serve. Each year, H-E-B donates over 5% of its annual pre-taxed earnings to non-profit originations through the H-E-B Community Investment Program,” said Craig Bennett, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing of Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company. “As a family run business ourselves, and celebrating our 90th anniversary last year, we appreciate the dedication and effort it took for the family to reach this level of success while remaining committed to the family values that got them there.”

With a history of innovation in its retail operations, H-E-B has applied that same innovative spirit to the fleet operations with adoption of Michelin X One single tires, electronic hubodometers, RSS roll stability systems, and numerous productivity and light weight spec configurations. This technological leadership has allowed H-E-B to set productivity standards in private fleet operations, reaching maintenance on time record of 98% within a ten minute window.
