Utility’s Glade Spring Manufacturing Plant Contributes to the Achievement of United Way’s Annual $1M Donation Goal

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., January 31, 2011 – Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, the industry’s largest manufacturer of refrigerated trailers and a leading manufacturer of dry freight vans, flatbeds, and Tautliner” curtainsided trailers is pleased to announce that Utility’s Glade Spring manufacturing plant in Virginia participated in the achievement of United Way of Russell and Washington Counties’ 2010 campaign goal of $1 million.

Each year, Utility’s Glade Spring manufacturing plant is active in making contributions to the United Way fund. Since 1887, United Way’s mission is to provide financial support to the community with an emphasis on education, healthcare and human resource agencies. Through corporate and community fundraising, they are able to provide thousands of unemployed individuals with the necessary support to rebuild their lives. Contributions from the Glade Spring plant employees and others enable United Way to reinvest the funds into communities within Virginia’s Russell and Washington Counties. “With the recent economic downturn, many in our area have lost their jobs and we recognize the positive support United Way has within our community to help those who are unemployed and less fortunate,” said Jack Washburn, Utility’s Glade Spring Plant Manager.

Utility’s Glade Spring plant employees have the option to contribute any dollar amount and have it automatically deducted from their payroll checks. The plant’s 325 employees collectively raised over $20,000. “The Utility Trailer Glade Spring facility employees have always been generous in their support of United Way,” said Washburn. “I am amazed and humbled by the generosity of our employees.”

Utility’s Glade Spring manufacturing plant plans to continue with annual donations to United Way of Russell and Washington Counties as well as other non-profit organizations that support the community.
