Dry Van Performance Features
80K flush steel logistics posts
Engineered and track tested to create optimum side wall strength, the design also provides 101" of inside width, and best-in-class cargo securement versatility.
Light weight aluminum exterior side skin with Ultra Road Shield™ Plus (URS+)
Tested for optimum performance, the .040" aluminum side skin uses the strength of the foam bonded to the interior lining panels to distribute side wall stress.
Tall bottom rail
For greater strength and durability, the tall bottom rail is 10” taller and 50% thicker than a standard dry van rail. It raises the height of the interior riveted components and provides a smooth, puncture resistant interior surface at the floor level.
4000D-X Composite TBR only
Support leg bracing
Aerospace-style wing plates have collared holes and embossed ribs for increased strength and lower tare weight. Formed channel braces provide additional durability.
100% soldered electrical wiring system
The sealed main harness features 100% soldered internal connectors that prevent corrosive deicing chemicals from traveling through connections into the wiring.
Weathertight hardwood floor system
Flooring is pre-undercoated to extend floor life. Weatherproof sealant is applied between every floorboard, Utility-designed gaskets are installed between the troughs and bottom rails for leak protection.
High payload floor system
The 4000D-X Composite comes standard with a high payload floor system, with a 20,000 lb fork truck front axle floor rating and three screws per floor board.
Dry Van Performance Options
Aluminum and steel side wall system
Alternating steel and aluminum side wall design reduces tare weight allowing for increased payload.
Clearance light packages
An array of LED clearance light packages are available to meet the needs of your operation.
Factory-installed lift gates
Utility offers high quality lift gate installation from most manufacturers providing you with a fully operational trailer direct from the factory.
Heavy-duty aluminum floors
An optional heavy-duty, light weight aluminum floor delivers added payload, reduces trailer weight, and offers an extended floor life.
Tri-axle suspension systems
We offer optional tri-axle suspensions with 49", 60" and 72" spread axles for higher payload capacity.
Plywood lining solutions
If your operation requires a plywood lining, we offer several options to meet your requirements.
Available on the 4000D only
Inside width options
Multiple post depths are available to increase inside width or increase bulge strength.
Composite floor systems
Built with a fiberglass layer on the underside, the high strength design of a composite floor supports heavier payloads and decreases moisture entry into the floor.
Galvanized interior lining is squeeze riveted with fully recessed fasteners to outer skin and side posts, creating a Snag-Free®, high strength, composite wall.
Diagonal reinforcing gussets
Welded steel reinforcing gussets on slider rails increase torsional stiffness and strength for more slider rail stability.
Injected polyurethane foam core composite side wall
Securely bonds exterior skin with interior lining panels for remarkable side wall strength, unparalleled durability and reduced tare weight.
Premium 5-year wheel end system
Warranted for 5 years parts and labor, the system includes precision-adjustable spindle nuts; cast aluminum hub caps and premium oil seals.
Stainless steel rear door frame
Corrosion resistant frame reduces maintenance costs and increases resale value. Plus its 110½" door opening height allows maximum forklift clearance.
High mounted wearband
The 8" wearband is moved 10" above the work level, and the smooth, solid one-piece interior surface of the aluminum Tall Bottom Rail becomes point of contact for pallets.
4000D-X Composite TBR only
Bi-directional tensioned roof design
Our bi-directionally tensioned aluminum roof skin has diagonal reinforcing plates at all four corners. It is supported by anti snag roof bows and is mechanically crimped around the top rail for moisture entry protection.
27" deep integrated threshold plate assembly
Fully welded to the buckplate and side gussets, the 27" threshold plate eliminates floorboard decay and delivers the maximum strength to resist dock plate damage and fork truck impact.
6-post front wall
Steel “tees” are welded to the approach plate between 4 posts and extruded aluminum corner posts for superior impact resistance, significantly lowering maintenance costs.
Heavy-duty kingpin and approach plate assembly
Approach plate is supported by six formed channels to prevent dishing. The kingpin is AAR-rated and the whole assembly is secured to the bottom rails with stainless steel rivets.
A kingpin section flooded in rust preventative coating, a stainless steel rear case and barrier tape on dissimilar metals reduces the potential for corrosion.
¾" deep side wall
Side walls have been increased to ¾" for added stiffness and increased bulge strength often required in specialized hauls and heavy-duty applications.
Available on 4000D-X Composite 100 only
Improved bulge strength
Built with a deep ¾" side wall for improved stiffness and increased bulge strength, the 4000D-X Composite 100 is built for long-term performance and a lower total cost of ownership.
Available on 4000D-X Composite 100 only
Composite plate rear doors
Designed with a polyethylene core and steel skins, these light weight plate rear doors are durable and moisture resistant, delivering longer door life.
Ultra Road Shield™ Plus (URS+)
ASTM proven, this two coat acrylic system with urethane primer enhances corrosion protection, minimizes the effects of weathering and keeps the trailer looking better, longer.
Dry Van Durability Options
Approach plate reinforcing angle
The approach plate reinforcing angle provides added front wall protection, reducing maintenance costs while promoting longer trailer life.
Heavy-duty aluminum, fiberglass reinforced plastic and HDPE plastic options are available to fit your operation’s durability requirements.
Severe service kingpin section
Engineered with a thicker approach plate and kingpin plate, this design minimizes damage during heavy-duty service operations, reducing ongoing maintenance costs.
Stainless steel vertical and horizontal dock bumper
Easy-to-clean, corrosion resistant stainless steel dock bumpers create a clean look that increases resale value and extends trailer life.
Diamond pattern stainless steel doors
Utility pioneered the development of lower glare stainless steel rear door panels without sacrificing style and looks. Available on ply-metal doors only.
Surface mounted ply lining
Horizontal coaching rail captures lining seams.
Available on 4000D only
